SIA response to Environmental Improvement Plan 2023
The government has confirmed today in its Environmental Improvement Plan 2023 that it is NOT considering a ban on domestic burning in England.
It has also announced smoke emissions limits for Smoke Control Areas will be cut from 5g to a maximum of 3g per hour, a measure that is welcomed by the Stove Industry Association.

Wood Burning Stoves Can Help You Lower Energy Costs
In 2015 the government found that around 7.5% of people in the UK burned wood to keep warm, and a tiny 2.3% of people used wood as their sole heating source. Fast forward eight years and a cost of living crisis, this figure has significantly increased. Some people worried about the rising cost of gas and electricity have started to burn wood to keep warm.

Do you know how much your heating costs per hour?
The cold snap we saw in December is long gone, and 2023 has brought in mainly wet and mild weather so far. While it may not look a picture postcard of winter, the mild weather is certainly a respite from the persistent cold and, for some, the worry of having to heat your home for longer than usual.
